Technology Transfer Program (STTR) – National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) – U.S. Department of Commerce

The Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program expands funding opportunities in the federal innovation arena. Central to the program is the expansion of the public/private sector partnership to include joint venture opportunities between small businesses and nonprofit research institutions.

About

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a Technology Transfer Program that manages the agency’s innovations and intellectual property. This includes patents, patent licenses, and research partnerships with industry. The program acts as NOAA’s Office of Research and Technology Applications across all its science labs and centers.

The goal is to efficiently transfer NOAA’s technologies to U.S. companies. This allows industry to directly utilize and commercialize NOAA’s innovations. The program helps move discoveries from the lab to the private sector for societal and economic benefit.
