Center for Economic Education – Chadron State College

The Nebraska Council on Economic Education supports five Centers for Economic Education throughout the state. These centers work closely with and partner with educators in their regions to provide world-class economic and financial literacy education programs to K-12 students here in Nebraska.

About

The Center for Economic Education at the Chadron State College goals have been to increase the economic literacy, financial literacy, entrepreneurship literacy and critical thinking skills of teachers, students and the general public in our service region.

Our goals were achieved through undergraduate courses, graduate courses, workshops and distribution of educational materials from the National Council on Economic Education, Nebraska Council on Economic Education, Federal Reserve System and center for Economic Education.

Since 2018 the center has hosted the Best of the West Business Invitational for Nebraska high school students each January. The Best of the West Business Invitational follows Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition guidelines. The competition includes written tests in nine subjects, as well as a job interview contest for seniors. Each spring the center provides an Economics exam to the area high school students as part of the Scholastics Day at Chadron State College. Traditionally, the center has been a strong advocate and supporter of the Stock Market Game and served as a mentor for the Game.
