Leon S. McGoogan Health Sciences Library – University of Nebraska Medical Center – Omaha
About
As well as standard health science library services, McGoogan is home to the Jim and Karen Linder Maker Studio, a place for UNMC students, faculty, and staff to experiment, build, prototype, and be creative. The open, inviting space is outfitted with 21st-century technology and a layout that facilitates collaboration and hands-on learning. Maker studio users will have access to four 3D printers, a 3D scanner, specialty cameras, a media preservation station, and other technology and materials. Located centrally on level six of the library, the maker studio brings attention to innovation by offering technology and project materials to support creative doing and learning, informal thinking, and ideation.
Programming offerings complement curricular and extracurricular work at UNMC and promote the building of a peer network of leaders who can approach problems with creativity and curiosity. The maker studio builds on the library’s community involvement in 3D design competitions, student outreach and research presentation, and instructional and clinical activities.
Library staff will provide orientations and workshops for those who are new to 3D printing and 3D scanning.
Visit the Maker Studio guide for more detailed information.
