Invest Nebraska

Invest Nebraska provides operational assistance and seed capital, develops entrepreneurial/innovation ecosystems, and collaborates with public and private partners across the state to create jobs and ensure prosperity.


Seed Capital – Invest Nebraska Partners with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development to administer the Nebraska Innovation Seed Fund program, part of the Nebraska Business Innovation Act. This program provides up to $250,000 of seed capital in the form of equity or convertible debt to an early-stage business and must be matched by private investors. Invest Nebraska also administers a venture debt program for early-stage, equity financed companies and a microloan program for micro businesses. Invest Nebraska has also developed a collaborative network of over seventy venture capital funds outside of the state that are interested in Nebraska investment opportunities.

Entrepreneurship Infrastructure – Invest Nebraska partners with the Omaha-based Startup Collaborative by providing operational assistance for the collaborative’s module focused on raising capital and finances. The Startup Collaborative is sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. Invest Nebraska also partners with the Lincoln-based NMotion Accelerator by mentoring participating startups. NMotion is a partnership between the Lincoln Partnership for Economic development, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Union Bank & Trust, Nelnet, and Invest Nebraska. The Biotech Connector is a 7,700 sq. ft. wet lab incubator located on Nebraska Innovation Campus that incubates biotech startups with shared laboratory equipment. The program is led by Invest Nebraska and is a collaboration between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Bio-Nebraska, and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. The Combine is an Agriculture and Food Tech Incubator led by Invest Nebraska and directed by a twenty-member steering committee. Located on Nebraska Innovation Campus, the 1,900 sq. ft. incubator program provides office space, a mentor network, technical assistance through a module program, and a NextGen Producer network comprised of Nebraska Agriculture Producers. This virtual program is available to any startup in the ag and food tech space in Nebraska. Lastly, Invest Nebraska provides general operating assistance to Nebraska entrepreneurs including business model review, executive recruitment, financial planning, valuation modeling and review, business structure review, business/investor pitch review, and IP development review.
